the MIRREN LEE

The 2012 Act Three Journey of an Actress/Coach/Writer.

WHAT’S MY STORY?

I’m an American/Australian living in Melbourne, Australia – a Baby Boomer by age and music preferences. I am an actress, acting/voice/dialect coach and writer who WILL finish the books this year, especially the teaching ones, that I have been working on since the beginning of this Millennium. I love cats, reading, and watching dick flicks. I hate logic vacuums and bureaucracy. I am taking up the Word Press Challenge to blog every day during 2012.

    Dear Mirren
I’m wondering just what form your coaching activities take these days. Do you still run classes, or is it individual students these days? You taught me acting a looooong time ago (in a hall at the corner of Chapel Street & Carlisle Street, St. Kilda, if memory serves), and I’m very interested in returning to it. Would you please email me with details of what and how you are teaching these days?
    All the best

    • OMG, what a flashback – I’d almost forgotten about that place! I have taken a break from classes and private sessions this past year to concentrate on getting my health under control, but one of my commitments for 2012 is to start again. This time, however, it won’t be all consuming like it was before, and I will be doing more writing and acting myself, instead. Two of the writing projects are on acting for camera and a voice/dialect book (esp. American dialects). If you’re interested in hearing about when I start up classes again, I’ll let you know when I have details. Nice to hear from you. 🙂

  2. Oh, dear. I’ve been reading your blog but just realized I wasn’t an actual follower! Can I blame the fog? Haha Keep up the great posts!

UMMMM…did you really mean you like DICK flicks? Or did you mean you like CHICK flicks?
Either way is cool with me. LOL

  4. Hey Mirren, I love your blog! Especially the daily struggle with Fibro. Ugh, I’m right there with you, sister.

Um…was this a fibrofog moment for you?

Did you really mean DICK flicks? Or are you more into CHICK flicks? Lol.

    • Sorry for double posting … Didnt see my first comment… Then i didnt see the ‘awaiting moderation’ tag until after i posted 2nd comment.
Feel free to delete a comment, obviously.
      Thanks & sorry.

    • Thanks for your encouragement, and yes I did mean dick flicks. The phrase probably started somewhere else, but I started it when a movie ticket seller sneeringly referred to a film I asked about as a chick flick. The opposite just seemed to obviously be dick flicks. 🙂 I find it amusing that there’s a school of thought that says women don’t like adventure, thrillers or action films. Me, I like a good ol’ revenge film any day! I like chick flicks, too, but only if they have humor, e.g. “Steel Magnolias”. I’m sorry you’re struggling with Fibro, too. Hang in there. At least people can now support each other online – years ago, there was nothing except guilt and crazy making from everyone who didn’t have it. BTW, I love your “handle” – that’s me, too!
